am: Arrival at port off Ile Royale. Disembark
and towed by small boat to the pier.

am: Welcome by our English speaking guide.
Spot presentation about the history of French Guiana and its cruel past.

am: Continue to climb the stairs to Ile Royale. One the
way, you will discover that the very stairs you are walking on were
built by the prisoners
themselves.
You will see the intricate network of stairs and be amazed at how they
are preserved. Walk on history.
8:50-10:45am:
You will be introduced
to the prison community and to the ruins of the penal settlement. Some
buildings have been preserved to this day. Visit the cells which housed
the prisoners, the penal headquarters, the residence for the insane,
the chapel, islands water storage, tower for cable car to Devil �s
Island, the graveyard of the security children and the other houses
located on the island. Go back down the stairs along the winding path
to discover the prisoners' swimming pool located near the edge of the
island.
11:45
am Rest at the Auberge for a few minutes . Option of
taking lunch on the island. (Cost is 22 Euros for a 3 course meal).
11:45-12:
15 pm: You will have the option of going on the St.
Joseph Island where you will discover yet another settlement for the
French Legion. You may take a swim on the island.
1:10
pm Take your small boat back to your waiting cruise
ship.
